dc.description.abstract This study attempts to assess the changing roles in academic libraries in the information age and measures taken by the management in copying with change. Modern university libraries today are facing increasing demand for services while struggling with the challenges of management such as the rise in information resources, high cost of library materials, high expectation from users, budget, population pressure, inadequate infrastructure and explosion of information. Without appropriate adaptive measures being put in place, the library users would not be able to obtain current, reliable and satisfying services from the library. This has demanded the need to reinvent libraries so as keep abreast with the changing needs of users. The research findings indicate there is a need for the library administration to embrace change for it to deliver quality services to its users. This study therefore, critically explores the emerging changes affecting library environments and provides the best possible solutions to manage these changes so as to enable the university library to provide current, adaptive, quality and timely information services to the users. en_US
