In this chapter there is the location ofthe study, sampling, design and population is identified, sample size, sampling procedures,d atac ollection proceduresf,i nally datap resentationa nd analysis. Chapterf our entails data analysisa nd presentation( i.e.) the findings for the organizations understudy. It contains descriptive analysis of the finding and data presentation. Finally chapter five gives the summary of the findings, conclusion and recommendation based on the findings of the study. Therefore, the purpose of the study was aimed at investigating the factors affecting employee career development in public organizations with reference to Nairobi City County. The specific objectives of the study were; to investigate the effect of training and development on employee career development in Public organizations, to assess the effect of performance appraisal on employee career development in Public organizations, to determine the effect of reward system on employee career development in Public organizations and to find out the effect of recruitment and selection policies on employee career development in Public organizations. Study benefits the management, and other researchers. Descriptive research design was used in the study. The target population was 102 respondents. The researcher used stratified random sampling procedure to select a sample size of 51 respondents. Questionnaires were used for collecting data which was analyze using statistical tools and presented using figures and tables. The findings of the study were represented by majority employees as follows; the response for training was 74%, response for performance appraisal was 74%, the response for employee reward systems was 87% the response for recruitment and selection was 82%. The responses indicated that the factors highly affect the Career development and therefore measures need to be taken on them in public organizations. It is recommended that on job training is more vital for career development. Performance appraisal should be done aimed at improving the well being of all employees in their careers. The reward system within the public organizations should be the one which has not discrimination to either the young or the long served employees in the organization. The management of the organization should ensure that there exist recruitment and selection policies which give fair chance to all the categories of employees. By ensuring the above measures the success of the public institutions in career development will be attained without strangling.Item Effects of Conflict on Organizational Performance: A Case Of Jamii Bora Bank(2015-06-12) Kamande, BeatriceItem Factors Affecting Human Resource Planning In an Organization: A Case Study of Juja Blocks Company(2015-06-12) Irungu, JosephThe purpose of the study is to determine the factors affecting human resource planning in an organization. The specific objectives were to find out the effect of communication systems, job design, organizational structure and human resource policies on human resource planning in organizations. The study applied descriptive research design. The target population included 200 staff from Juja Blocks Company, out of which 25% was used as a sample selected using stratified random sampling. Data collection was through questionnaires which were pretested before the final study. After data collection data was analysed quantitatively and qualitatively to present the findings and give recommendations. In attempt to establish the respondents’ views on whether they were comfortable with the communication systems in place. Respondents (42%) were satisfied which shows that they were contented with the communication systems in place. Respondents (87%) acknowledged the effect of job design, 71% the effect of organizational structure and 74% the effect of human resource policies For recommendations, firms should have a well structured human resource department within clear policies on the relationship between human resource and finance industry whereby human resource functions involving human resource planning should be given adequate budgetary allocation to fulfill their functions. Management should continuously scan the environment to establish trends in government policy and how such may affect the operations of the industry. All human resource functions in security firms should be conducted in accordance with labour laws. Organizations should ensure consistency between the structure and operations such that the organization is structured in a way that will promote effectiveness and efficiency in operations. There is need to go beyond cutting cost to being a world class service provider. Training will ensure that the ultimate users are conversant with the systems. Another study on human resource planning should be carried out in different firms a part from Juja Blocks limitedItem The Effects of Technology on Inventory Management(2015-06-12) Njoroge, StephenItem Effects of Motivational Incentives on Employee Performance in Small and Medium Enterprises in Kenya: A Case Study of Family Bank(2015-06-12) Gichuru, CarenThe overall objective of this study was effects of motivational incentives on employee performance in small and medium enterprises in Kenya. The Specific objectives included finding out the effects of remuneration, growth opportunities, training programs and service awards on employee performance. This study adopted descriptive research design. The target population was 52 staff members from Family Bank, Head office. Census design was used in sampling. Data collection was through questionnaires which were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively after data collection. There study established various ways in which employees were motivated namely pay and benefits, growth opportunities, work conditions, staff training and service awards. There is a relationship between motivational incentives and employee performance. Motivation improves level of efficiency of employees. The level of a subordinate or an employee does not only depend upon his qualifications and abilities. Motivational incentives affects employee performance in an organization in various ways such as increased output, boosting employee morale, improved participation and improved employee relations. Motivational incentives affect employee performance to a very great extent. The study recommends that to use salaries as a motivator effectively, personnel managers must consider four major components of a salary structures. It is also important to ensure that the prevailing pay in other establishments is taken into consideration in determining the pay structure of their organization. An employee performance appraisal process runs a few times during the year. If designed appropriately, significantly more information can be captured and analyzed by organizations. The management should maintain effective communication with staff to identify their needs, allow for suggestions through open door policy and giving prompt feedback..The sharing of a company's profits gives incentive to employees to produce a quality product, perform a quality service, or improve the quality of a process within the company. The researcher recommends that the study be extended to manufacturing firms and other institutions with adequate time provision.Item Effects of Remuneration on Employees Performance in the Organization: A Case Study of Sisdo Microfinance.(2015-06-12) Awino, HellenPay for performance is one of the recognized practices of management. Almost all remuneration plans include incentive and bonus schemes in order to motivate employees’ performance of individuals by rewarding them. The aim of the study was to find out how pay-for performance system can actually affect performance of employees in the organization. Research and Literature indicates that pay-for performance can indeed influence employee’s performance. However there are instances where there are negative effects associated with pay for performance. Pay-for performance is in instances considered controversial owing to the large remuneration packages that management in particular receive as compared to junior employees. Effective pay-for performance plans are found to have a positive effect on the motivation of employees. However the reward preferences differ from one individual to another, therefore it is important to understand individuals and what motivates them than the actual reward offered to them.
